Jack is 18 months old!!!

I can't believe that Jack is 18 months old today! Seems like just yesterday we were celebrating his first birthday. He is quite the little man - always on the go! And he is fast, too! We have his 18 month checkup in a few weeks, but I'm guessing he'll probably weigh at least 27 or 28 pounds! He has 9 teeth, including 2 of his molars. He is working on the other 2 molars and also his 4th bottom tooth - not fun!! He can point to all of his body parts - eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, hair, arms, hands, legs, feet, toes. Here are some of the things I love about Jack right now:

- His giggles and belly laughs - he loves to be chased, play peek-a-boo, and wrestle with his big brother

- How much he loves his books! Lots of times I will find him just sitting quietly looking at books. Love it!

- The way he will back his little bootie up until he lands in your lap when he wants you to read him a book!

- His babbling - he will carry on complete conversations and we SO wish we knew what he was saying!

- The way he is trying so hard now to say new words - Drew is the best at getting him to say things! So far he says: dada, mama (FINALLY!), up, yes, please, and uh oh.

- How he says "meow" when you ask him what a kitty says - He smiles so his dimples show and sticks his tounge out in a funny way as he says "meow" - I am trying to get this on video - so funny!

- How he follows Drew around and tries to do everything he does! He will hold his hands out to Drew when he wants him to play Ring Around the Rosie with him!

- His kisses and hugs that he gives on demand!

- The way he will shake his head "no" at me when I try to sing him songs at night! He likes "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", but then if I start singing "You are My Sunshine" he shakes his head at me!

- The way he will step up on the stool when he is brushing his teeth and try to spit into the sink the way he sees Drew do! So funny!

- His LOVE for playing outside - his favorites include mowing (big surprise there), riding his little 4-wheeler, playing ball, sliding, and playing in the sandbox!

- How he loves to throw away his own diaper now after you change it!

- He is a mama's boy!! :)

He loves to wear around these glasses from the doctor kit!

"Cookie!" (If only he was actually saying it!)

He likes to take a shower with Drew now, and run around wearing his towel afterwards the way Drew does. Couldn't resist these shots...Check out that dimple and that belly!!

Reading his books!

Brothers!!

These are just a few cute shots of the boys together recently....

Jack loves to crawl up in the chair and watch cartoons with Drew

Jack giggles hysterically when Drew tries to wrestle with him!

Mommy and her boys!!

Having a bowl of cheerios and watching cartoons!

Wonderscope!

On Thursday Mimi and I took the boys to Wonderscope. It was a fun time! It is like a children's museum with several little rooms to play in. The first room was full of golf balls and all kinds of ramps to roll them down. Jack loved it right off the bat and didn't want to leave!

There was also a little farm room with a barn, animals, a garden, and little market to play at. Here is Drew, feeding the "calfie" just like at Grandma and Grandpa's farm.

Jack brushing the cow

Back to the balls!! He loved watching it go around over and over and over.....

Drew loved the astronaut room - there was a "spaceship" to play in with computers, and also a spacesuit and helmets! He has decided that he wants to be an astronaut for Halloween now.

These helmets were hilarious...

In the Lego room, inside a submarine made of Legos! Check out the toilet!

Jack also loved the water room - and of course got himself soaked despite the apron we put on him.

Did you know that you have to weedeat the grass even on the moon???

Touch-A-Truck

Last Sunday, we went to the Touch-A-Truck event at the Overland Park Convention Center. We started off the morning with breakfast at First Watch - YUM!! Uncle Brad and Aunt Rachel met us at the event since it was close to their house. There were all kinds of trucks to see: a fire truck, ambulance, recycling truck, combine, limo bus, race car, snow plow...basically Drew's idea of the BEST day ever. :) We also got to feed some baby goats and watch Mr. Stinky Feet perform - that was Jack's favorite part until the point where we wouldn't let him climb up on the stage with Mr. Stinky Feet - that really made him mad. :) It was a fun day!

They also had trucks from a Ford dealership that you could draw on with dry erase markers! Drew thought this was just great. :)

Grandma and Grandpa Came to Visit!

Drew was SO excited a few weekends ago when Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. He loves when they stay at our house, and Grandma and Grandpa definitely get their fill of playing with the boys! :) We all met at Buca de Beppo on the Plaza for dinner on Friday night, then took Grandma and Grandpa to ride the Line Creek train on Saturday morning! After that we checked out the kids fest that was going on at Briarcliff Village - it was SO hot but the boys at least got to enjoy a pony ride. Jack loved that part! We love you, Grandma and Grandpa, and we can't wait to come to the farm soon! Thanks for coming up to see us!

Grandma and Drew were having popcicles on the porch, and Drew decided they needed to rest. :)

Drew is 4 and 1/2!!! ( + a month!)

I have been thinking recently that the boys are doing so much right now that I just don't want to forget, so I decided I needed to write it down. Since Jack will be 18 months in a few weeks, I thought I could write about what he's doing then, but I already missed Drew's half birthday. So since today is the 10th, he is 4 1/2 plus 1 month! Crazy, I know, but I needed a reason to write this stuff down! :)

Things I love about Drew right now...

- His ability to turn any toy or household object into a mower, weedeater, or leaf blower. Really - ANYTHING. Complete with sound effects.

- The way he loads all his lawn equipment into his wagon, hooks it to the back of his 4-wheeler, and pulls up to the edge of the driveway the way Ryan's mowing guys do. He then goes through the entire process, in order, of taking care of the lawn. Sometimes he even bosses the little neighbor girls around and makes them help him! (He usually corrects everything they do, though.)

- He is so smart, it just blows me away sometimes. He will say things and I have no clue where he comes up with this stuff!

- The way he is so matter-of-fact when he talks sometimes, and seems like such an old soul.

- His awesome imagination and the way he loves to pretend. I love to watch when he gets in his "zone" and has all his trucks out making a road, or the tractors working on the farm, or the trucks carrying the mowers and mowing the carpet.

- The way he will talk to himself and have little conversations while he is pretending!

- His incredible energy - seriously wish I had half of it!

- The way he goes 90 miles an hour at all times. Lots of bumps and bruises to show for it, too.

- His argumentative nature that has me betting he will be an attorney someday. He loves to argue back and forth about the littlest things!

- The way he asks, "Why?" about EVERYTHING...even when we are just driving in the car, and I say, "Look Drew, there are some kids playing baseball." "Why?" You can just see the wheels turning at all times!

- The way he is turning into such a little kid, and not a toddler anymore. He talks so grown up, he is really into playing with his friends, likes to ride his bike and 4 wheeler with the neighbors.

- The way he can melt your heart with his smile and dimples!!

- How he is so good at just being a little kid and the things he will say sometimes. The other night when I came in to read his books, he showed me one and said in a high squeaky voice with a big smile, "I picked out some great books! Look at this one - doesn't it look like it is going to be silly?!"

- The way he will go in Jack's room in the morning and talk to and play with him. On Sunday morning, we were being lazy and everyone kind of slept late. Drew came into our room, then went to Jack's room and told us that Jack wanted to get up. Well, we didn't get up to get him right away and the next thing we knew, they both walked into our room! Drew had lifted Jack out of his crib!

- The way he loves to have his back tickled, just like his Mommy. We also have to sing the same 4 or 5 songs before bed...don't ask me, they are really random but he requested them a long time ago and they stuck! ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle, You are my Sunshine, Row Row Row your Boat, and the first few lines of "It's all right to be Little Bitty"! Sometimes there is a Baa Baa Black Sheep thrown in there too!

- How if he has taken a nap that day, he will be out of his bed 2 seconds after you leave his room and he'll say, "I tried and tried but I couldn't fall asleep!" One time he came downstairs so many times that I told him that if he couldn't go to sleep then he could pick up the toys that were all over the floor. And he did - all to avoid going to bed!

- Man, can he throw a tantrum. Not one of the things I love, but just sayin......

We love you, Drew Jacob!

Taking a bubble bath in the whirlpool - mad at first that we were taking his picture...
