100th Day of Kindergarten!

Today is the 100th day of school!  I can't believe he has been in school for 100 days already!!!  WOW.  Doesn't seem possible.  Each kindergartner was asked to made a project with 100 things to display in their 100 Day Museum at school.  Drew came up with this idea all by himself - we were talking about some different things we could do and he says, "How about a Christmas tree with 100 lights?"  Great idea, buddy!  We went to Target to get all the materials and then I drew a big Christmas tree on some foam board.  Drew colored it all in, then the next day we glued 100 Fruit Loops on it for the lights!  Well, 99 on the tree and 1 on top for the star.  :)  It turned out pretty cute!  Drew was so excited for the 100th day - they do activities all day today that have to do with the number 100.  I can't wait to hear all about it!  We did have to clear up some confusion, though, and I had to break it to him that today was NOT the LAST day of school!  He thought that the 100th day was it!  Time for summer!  HA!

2 Points!

Drew made his first basket in his game on Saturday!  We were so proud of him!  It was the Sharks' third game, and I think it all started to "click" this time!  Their team won the game 14 to 12.  It is really hard to get pictures during the game because they are moving so fast and there are kids everywhere, so I am posting one of his "trading card" pictures.  He looks so big!!  Go Sharks!

Drew's Family Birthday Party

We celebrated Drew's birthday with the entire family on Saturday.  He wanted a Monster Truck party so Mommy got creative (in 6 years we still have not chosen a party theme that you can actually find in the stores!) and we had cupcakes with monster trucks on them and decorated with all of the boys' own monster trucks!  Grandma and Grandpa came into town for the party as well as Great Aunt Debbie.  It was fun seeing everyone and celebrating the big SIX!!!

Happy 6th Birthday, Drew!!!

I can't believe my first baby boy turned SIX on Tuesday!  I know everyone always says it, but the time really DOES go by soooooo fast.  The birthday boy woke up to 6 balloons hanging from streamers in his doorway and a present waiting for him outside his room.  After opening his gift, he came downstairs for his favorite breakfast of chocolate chip muffins and found that another gift was hidden for him to find.  He got some legos and John Deere tractors to start his day!  Jack also gave him his gift - 3 little motorcycles.  When Jack saw Drew was opening a gift, he says, "Mommy, where are the motorcycles?"  (He had helped me wrap them.)  So much for surprises!  :)  After breakfast Drew had to head to school, and I got to go have lunch with him and then take cookies to his class for his birthday.  After school he got to open 1 more present and then we headed to Red Robin for dinner.  We finished off the night with some birthday cake and a couple more presents!  Happy 6th Birthday, Drew - we love you so much!!!

Bowling Party!

Drew had his birthday party with some of his friends last Saturday.  He chose a bowling party this year, and the kids had lots of fun!  They bowled a game, ate pizza and cookie cake, opened presents, and got to play in the arcade.  He invited his best bud James, of course, his friend Gavin up the street (who he sits with on the bus every day), Kaitlyn (a little girl in his class - I job share with her mom), and Katelyn and Jillian, our next door neighbors.  Drew is becoming quite the little bowler - might have to look into a junior bowling league for him in the future - ha!  Can't believe my little guy is turning SIX....

Drew's 1st Basketball Game!

Drew had his very first basketball game last weekend.  Daddy is the coach so they have been practicing very hard the last couple of months!  It was just like the real thing - referees and everything!  They don't keep score, but Drew insists that his team 'won'.  :)  It was interesting (to say the least!) to watch them play a game against other kindergartners.  He did great dribbling the ball down the court and passing to his teammates!  Drew's best buddy from preschool, James, is on his team.  At one point during the game, the two of them were at one end of the court just having a little conversation between themselves!  It was hilarious!  Their next game is tomorrow - can't wait to see the Sharks play again!

Sleepover at Mimi and Papa's

Drew spent the night with Mimi and Papa for the first time last night!  We have been talking about it for a couple years now but he just would not do it - last year he said he would stay with them when he was 5 - well, he will be 6 in a week!  We had arranged for him to go to their house today since I had to go back to work but he doesn't go back to school until tomorrow.  So it worked out perfectly for him to stay last night.  I was worried that he would get sad and want to come home but he did great!  He had his suitcase packed and sitting by the door at 2:00 even though Papa wasn't coming to pick him up until after dinner!  It was so cute - I told him to get his suitcase out and I would be back in a few minutes.  Before I got back, he came out saying he was all packed!  He had put a pair of pajamas in his suitcase, 2 pairs of underwear (then laughed when he realized he only needed one), and pants and a shirt - he had even folded the shirt all by himself!  He said, "Look - it matches - the pants have yellow and blue and the shirt has yellow and blue!"  (I have taught him well!)  I was impressed. 

After we gathered up his "bear bear" that he sleeps with and his pillow, he carried it all downstairs and had it waiting by the door!

Papa came by after dinner and picked him up and they headed to Sonic for a chocolate shake.  Then he got to do a puzzle and make some trucks with Uncle Ryan's old Legos before getting ready for bed.  (He was excited because he was going to get to stay up late!)  Mimi had a new big book of Curious George stories so they read one of those and then he headed to bed in Uncle Ryan's old room.  Even talked Papa into sleeping with him!  He got to hang out and play all day today at their house and told me he was sad when I came to pick him up!  I'd say he had a great time and will be wanting to spend the night again soon!
