Drew

I thought it was time to do a little post on my big boys.  I started a new tradition a few months ago where on the date of their birthday each  month, they get a special "date" with Mom, doing whatever they want.  They love it and really look forward to it.  This month Drew picked lunch at Panera and bowling.  :)  It's so hard to believe that I'll have a 3rd grader in a few days.  He has really grown up this year - from the looks of his face (those permanent teeth really make them look big!) to the way he talks to the things he likes to do.  He is my sports boy - always wanting to be outside playing kickball, basketball, baseball or watching it on TV!  He still loves all things farm but doesn't play with his trucks quite as much anymore.  He's goofy (what is it about 2nd graders?!), funny, loud, smart (a whiz at math), competitive, sweet (when he wants to be), fast and full of energy.  He is a great big brother and Luke giggles when Drew gives him any sort of attention!  We love you, Drew Jacob!

Jack is a Pre-K Grad!

I can't believe my baby (well I know he's not the baby anymore but he was for so long!) graduated from Pre-K already!  Time needs to slow down!!!  I have enjoyed my time with him so much that it's so bittersweet to know he'll be off to kindergarten all day in a few short months.  They had a great ceremony where the kids sang a kindergarten song and a goodbye song and then were presented their diplomas by their teachers.  Each kiddo also said what their name was and what their favorite part of school was.  Afterwards we got to have cookies and juice and then it was time to go home for a graduation surprise!  We are so proud of you, Jack Ryan!  He asked me later that day when the next day was to go to school.  He was sad when I said kindergarten is still lots of days away!  Look out Shoal Creek - he's ready!!

Mother's Day

I had the best Mother's Day this year!  It was a rare day when we had absolutely nothing to do - just got to spend it hanging out with my boys!  Mother's Day actually started the Friday before with Muffins for Mom at Jack's school.  They sang several songs for us and then presented us with "hugs and kisses" (Hershey's!) and a plant in a hand-painted pot.  Their little songs were adorable and Jack actually sang them!  Then they each shared their "facts about mom" that they wrote - pretty funny!!  According to Jack I really like to cook!?  Then we got to have muffins and juice.  Jack was so excited that I was staying with him at school that morning and served me the muffins and juice!

Then on Sunday the boys let me sleep in and went out and got donuts and flowers before I woke up!  They brought me a GIANT cinnamon roll up to bed - yum!  Then that afternoon I was talking about maybe going out to lunch, and Jack said, no, he was going to make me lunch!  He was so proud of the peanut butter sandwich he made himself, water and my favorite chocolate.  It was delicious.  :)  Love that sweet boy!!!

That afternoon the boys and Daddy gave me a watch, earrings, a new book and a gift certificate for a massage!  And Drew had a special card and book he made at school.

I love that he said I love to eat "chimy chimy chongas".  I make these yummy chicken chimichangas that Brian and I love but the boys won't eat.  For some reason, Drew calls them "chimy chimy chongas".  :)

Ok so this isn't exactly a holiday memory but I love it anyway.  :)  That's us out to dinner.

Jack's Last Day of Pre-K!

We have a kindergartner in the house!!!!!  I can't believe my middle baby is done with Pre-K.  This year absolutely flew by.  He had a GREAT year and grew up so much.  He is definitely ready for kindergarten!  They had a picnic outside on the last day with hot dogs, chips and cookies.  He had lots of fun running around with his buddies for the last time!

Luke is 9 Months Old!

Ok I know I say this every month, but REALLY - how is the time going by so quickly?!?!?!  Luke turned 9 months old on the 9th.  It seemed like I blinked and he's turning into a little boy already!  He weighs 19 lbs. 11 oz (50% ile) and is 28 1/2 inches long (50% ile).  He is crawling everywhere and into EVERYTHING.  A lot of the time he's content with his toys and standing at his music table but other times he's opening the bottom of the fireplace, taking the covers off the vents, opening the cabinets, climbing into the dishwasher, or emptying the diaper bag and my purse!  And he will look at me when he knows he's not supposed to be doing something and just laugh...  :)  He loves cheerios, baby cookies and baby mum-mums and still eats all his baby food.  His newest trick is saying dadadadadada.  He is such a sweetie and has the best smile!  If you laugh at him he'll just laugh right back at you.  He gives kisses on demand but usually just for mama.  :)  I love the way he looks at his brothers and I think before we know it he will be running after them!  We all love this little guy so much!

2nd Grade Field Trip

 A few weeks ago the 2nd graders went on a field trip to Martha LaFite Nature Sanctuary.  I was lucky enough to be one of the parents picked to go with them.  They learned about fossils and rocks, made a fossil with a shell and playdough, and then got to walk around in the creek looking for fossils!  Hands down that was Drew's favorite part.  :)  We had lots of fun and Mommy even learned a few things!  (Did you know we have a state fossil?!?)

Drew was picked to help demonstrate a timeline when they were learning about the Earth long ago.
