Oh Jack...

Some of the things this kid does just crack me up.  This first picture is from awhile ago - we were sitting outside and I was flipping through a magazine - he decided he was done playing and had to pull up a chair (for his feet too, just like me) and read his magazine, too.

Then this afternoon I told both the boys they needed to read in their rooms for 20 minutes.  Jack came in a few minutes later and said there was a fly buzzing around his room and he didn't want to be in there.  I told him to take his books and go read in baby Luke's room then.  20 minutes later when I went to check on him, this is what I found!  He must have been wiped out from his playdate with his friend earlier.  He is laying on 2 pouf (ottoman) things I had bought and was trying to decide between for the nursery!  HILARIOUS!!!  He was not a happy camper when I had to wake him up - but this WAS at 5:30 so there was no way I could let him keep sleeping!

Family Pics

Last weekend we went to my cousin Tim's rehearsal dinner and wedding.  I got a few cute pics of the boys and what could quite possibly be our last family of 4 picture..........  :)

My handsome boys on the rehearsal dinner night.

Could it be the last picture before we are a family of 5???

Now this is trouble.......

Fun with Friends

On Friday we went to Crown Center with our friends Beth, Hailey and Kinsey to watch Lyle the Crocodile at the Coeterie Theater.  It was really cute and the kids loved their front row seats.  Afterwards we had lunch and then played in the Curious George exhibit before raiding the candy and fudge stores!

Priceless!

I found these journal entries when Drew brought home all his notebooks from school at the end of the year.  They are too funny not to post!  From what I understand they were learning about persuasive writing and they had to write letters to persuade someone to give them something they wanted.  He wrote to us trying to persuade us to buy him a real 4-wheeler.  And then he wrote what our responses would be!  I could not stop laughing - the kid drives a hard bargin!!!  I will interpret his writing underneath each page...

Dear Mom and Dad,
I think I deserve a four wheeler because I have had all green days this year.  Because I have helped you a little.  I will keep it clean.  I've always wanted a four wheeler.
Love, Drew

Dear Drew,
You already have an electric four wheeler and four wheelers are over 1,000 dollars.  I don't think you deserve it.
Love, Mom and Dad

Dear Mom and Dad,
Four wheelers aren't 1,000 dollars they are only 700.40 dollars.  We can sell one of the tractors.  I have always wanted a four wheeler.
Love, Drew

Dear Drew,
We don't have enough money to buy everything you want.  You already have too much toys.  It is not gonna happen.
Love, Mom and Dad

Memories Being Made!

These pictures are actually from awhile ago but I just found them on my phone!  The boys have always loved going over to Great Grandpa Spotts' house and Grandpa really enjoys watching and playing with them as well.  We headed over one evening when Daddy was out of town and brought their bikes and scooters to ride down Grandpa's big driveway.  When we got there, Grandpa was playing checkers with a friend.  After we had been outside awhile, Jack said he wanted to play that game with Grandpa!  Turned out to be the best idea - they all had so much fun and it was hilarious to watch - Drew had actually just learned to play the day before in his summer school game class, and Jack had no idea how to play and just wanted to move his checkers anywhere he could "jump" Grandpa and get a king.  :)  Grandpa got a kick out of him!  I think they played 3 or 4 games total.  I love that my boys get to make memories like this with my Grandpa.

Look how we've grown...

The past couple of summers I have blogged about getting together with my 3 friends I used to teach with.  It's kind of become an annual thing to get all the kiddos together - 9 of them between the 4 of us and Luke will make 10 - we let the kids play and then eat lunch at Pizza Shoppe.  We always get their picture on this bench before we leave - seems we are now outgrowing the bench!!!  It's so fun to see how much the kids have grown from year to year.  Here is this year's pic:

L to R: Hailey (9), Keira (8), Grayson (8), Drew (7), Hayden (6), Jake (5), Kinsey (5), Jack (4) and Sawyer (14 months)!

Drew's Last Baseball Game

Drew had his last Cubs game on July 2 and his end of season party last week.  He made some great improvements this season and is really getting good at paying attention and making outs (in the infield at least).  :)  I didn't get many pictures of his last game because I had to be scorekeeper at the last minute - not my favorite job!  We had a party at Pizza Shoppe for the boys and Coach Daddy handed out the trophies.  Another one to add to his collection!  We are very proud of you, buddy!!

Jack's Last Baseball Game

Jack had his last game of the Bulldogs season last week.  He had a lot of fun and really improved throughout all the games!  He played pitcher again and did great at stopping those balls and throwing them to first.  Even got an out!  The team had a little party at the park where they played a kid vs. parents baseball game and then ate pizza and handed out medals.  We are proud of our little Bulldog!

Warming up with big brother Drew
Down and ready!
Look at that form!
Hitting was most definitely his favorite part.  :)

 Most of the team!
Ice cream to celebrate a great season!

 So proud of his medal!

Happy 4th of July!

I'm just a little behind here!  We had a low-key 4th of July at home this year - it was kinda nice!!  Started out the morning going to get fireworks, then of course had to try a few out before it was even noon.  :)  After lunch we headed to the pool for a few hours before coming home and having a great dinner with Mimi, Papa and Grandpa Spotts.  Mimi brought over chicken kabobs - yum!!  That night the boys had tons of fun shooting off all their fireworks and then we went to Oak Grove Park to watch the big fireworks display - it was pretty cool!

Not so sure about the sparkler yet...

Lake Fun!!!

A few weeks ago we headed down to the lake for a few days of fun in the sun with Mimi and Papa.  The boys did tons of swimming in the pool and were excited about Papa's surprise for them - a paddleboat!  Drew got pretty good at peddling it around the lake!  We took lots of boat rides and the boys tubed together for the first time (well, at least the first time going over 4 miles per hour).  :)  It was a great mini-vacay!

Fun in the paddleboat!

Taking a swim break in a quiet cove!

Watch out, they've got squirt guns!
Doing a little fishing!

That peddling is hard work!

Drew the fish trying to jump over the water from the squirt gun.
Having squirt gun fights with Daddy!
Love their faces!

Making some sand castles on the beach at Frankie and Louie's.

Trying to see through the lake water - ew!
Mama's boy!!
Papa's Captain
Too much fun, had to get a little nap in.

Loving the tube ride - love their expressions!
