Jack's 1st Day of Preschool!

My baby started preschool today!!!  I know everyone says this, but seriously, where did the time go?!?  Seems like we were just bringing him home from the hospital.  He was very excited this morning - I think since Drew goes to school, Jack thinks it's a pretty cool thing to do.  :)  We took some pictures before Drew left for school, and Jack even had to wear his backpack to the bus stop.  He was ready to go!  When we got to the preschool, he just walked right across the parking lot and in the door - didn't even glance back at us!  He showed us how to get to his classroom, hung up his backpack by his name, and then walked right in his class like he owned the place!  As I was signing him in, he came back out and said, "There is playdoh here!"  He had a new can of playdoh, rolling pin, and cookie cutter waiting for him at his seat - he was pretty excited about that!  He sat down and started playing right away.  We stayed for a few minutes, and after finally getting him to say bye (he was too busy!), we left the room.  We stood in the hall for a few seconds, then I peeked back in to see what he was doing - he got out of his seat, walked over to the door and shouted, "Bye!  I wuv you!"  MELT. MY. HEART.

So proud of him.  He is such a sweetheart with such a kind little heart!  I hope he always stays that way.  When I picked him up, he showed me his picture that was already hanging in the hallway.  It was about what he did over the summer.  At the top, the teacher wrote "I went to Disney."  He drew a big, green, castle!  Too cute.  I could tell he was a little worn out (I think it was a little chaotic in there!) but he said he had fun and had lots to tell me.  He played with blocks, read a story about school, played outside, and even had a cupcake because it was someone's birthday!  I asked him what his favorite part was and he said, "Reading!"  He did have a few stories to tell - he said everyone was crying, and I asked if he cried, and he said yes, because everyone was crying!  And then he said it was because he missed Mommy and Daddy.  He also told me that a little girl sat in his seat, and someone scribbled on his picture!  When we left I told him we could go wherever he wanted for lunch, thinking he would say "Old McDonald's".  He picked Panera!  So we went and had a little lunch together - he picked our table - it had to be one with only 2 chairs.  :)  All in all, I would say it was a successful first day!

Sweet Baby...

We got to have another quick visit with Grandma and Grandpa last weekend.  On Saturday night we all went out to Brad and Rachel's to see baby Parker again!  He had his eyes open a lot more and is just such a cutie!!  I didn't take many pictures but here are a couple of Grandma and then Jack holding Parker - so sweet!

Almost Preschool Time!

We went to Jack's school today for his "meet the teacher" day.  (Of course he wouldn't let me take a picture of him with the teacher, though!!)  His teacher's name is Miss Jennifer.  He loved his classroom - tons of new stuff to check out.  First thing he went to his seat and they got to decorate their name tags with stickers.

Then the teacher took a picture of each kid holding their name tag (I think so she can start to learn their names!)

While I filled out paperwork, he got right to work playing with the dinosaurs and trains - we were the last people to leave because he kept telling me "I'm not ready!"  Let's hope that's a sign that next Thursday will go off without a hitch!

Jack and Mommy time!

Last Friday was my last official day of summer break, so Jack and I headed down to Crown Center to check out the dinosaur exhibit.  It was pretty neat, with lots of big dinosaurs to climb on and some small ones to play with.

After that we headed up to the chocolate store!  It always smells so good in there.  Jack picked out a chocolate race car for him and a chocolate transformer for Drew.  Then on our way out we saw chocolate Lego guys and Lego bricks!  Of course we had to get those, too.  We sat out by the fountains and ate a little bit!  After that we went into the Lego store because Jack has been really into playing with Drew's legos lately, and really wanted some of his own.  We ended up having to go to the Lego store at Oak Park Mall, but we finally found him some Lego guys (that he got to create himself!) and a few vehicles, too!

Once we had our new Legos, we went out to see baby cousin Parker!  We met Rachel, Parker and Rachel's mom at Spin Pizza for lunch.  He was a trooper and slept the whole time!  Then we went back to their house so I could love on him for a little while!  He is so sweet.  Could just sit there and hold him all day!

Jack was rattling his rattles for him but he just wouldn't wake up.  :)

1st Day of 1st Grade!!!

I can not believe that my baby started first grade today!  The summer went by so fast, not to mention the past 6 years!!!  He was a little grumpy this morning, saying he didn't want to go, but once we were there he walked right in, hung up his backpack, and sat down at his table!  I am so proud of him - this is quite a difference from last year.  He was excited about his new Under Armour backpack and of course had to wear an Under Armour shirt today, too.  :)  His friend Alex from his baseball team last summer is in his class, so he sat by him (his teacher lets them pick their own seat for the first 3 days!)  When we left him, he was having a discussion with Alex about how little the chairs were.  :)  We love you, Drew and are SO proud of you - have a great day, buddy!!!

Balloon Fest!!

Last night we went out to the Midwest Balloon Fest in Olathe.  We had never been before and thought it might be something new and fun to do.  Well so did everyone else - it was SO crowded.  I guess hot air balloons have to have just the right winds to fly so we didn't get to see a lot of them in the sky but the ones they blew up on the ground were pretty neat.  There were also paratroopers that jumped from a plane - the boys loved that!

There was a kid area with bounce houses and other fun things to do - Drew is quite the little hula-hooper!!

There was a military section with lots of vehicles that the kids could get in - we only saw a couple though because of the long lines!!

Having a little ice cream while we waited for them to air the balloons up.
Nemo!  This one was right in front of us and HUGE - pretty cool!

It's kind of hard to see in this picture but they did a "balloon glow" where all the balloons would burn at the same time.  Drew really loved this!
