Big Boys Day at the Lake

Brian was on vacation all last week, so we went up to Smithville for a few hours on Friday morning with just Drew and Jack.  Luke loves the boat and lake but sometimes it's hard to do what the boys want to do because we always have to be watching him.  The boys are always wanting me to go on the tube with them so we took turns doing that, then anchored in a cove for lunch and some swimming.  It was a fun morning with our big boys before school starts!  Thanks to Aunt Rachel for watching Lukey!

Outside the wake!  I asked them once what they are talking about while they are tubing, and they told me they are rating the waves - beginner, medium, hard and expert.  Hahahaha!!!
Just relaxing!

I love these crazies.

Big Cedar - Day 1

On Sunday, August 9 (Luke's birthday!), we headed to Big Cedar Lodge for a little vacation!  The boys were so excited to stay in our cabin on the lake and we took the boat down with us, too.

French fries and ketchup for his birthday lunch...
We arrived at Big Cedar around 2:30 and got all checked in, then drove around the lake to our cabin.  It was perfect - 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, front porch with a grill and a back porch with 4 rocking chairs and a table and chairs.  We unpacked, then found our swimsuits and went to check out the lazy river and waterslide!

Luke stole my hat...
This waterslide was so cool!  They even had mom and dad going down it a few times...

There was a great little baby pool with water sprayers that Luke loved!

He would put his hand over the water and make it spray in his face - he thought it was hilarious!

Playing with the Toy Story gang in the pool!
We went around the lazy river a couple of times and then went back to cook dinner.  We made hamburgers on the grill and ate on the back deck.  After dinner we went down to the lake and watched the sunset and the boys threw rocks into the water.

There was a couple swimming down by the docks and they had 2 big labs that the boys had a blast playing with.  They would throw this huge stick in the water and the two dogs would run in to get it and carry it back in their mouths together!
Our big 2 year old!!
This is a view of the back of our cabin.  I loved the big deck!
We sang Happy Birthday to Lukey and had some birthday cake before bed.  He got so excited every time we sang to him - it was so cute!

Not a bad ending to your 2nd birthday!!

Big Cedar - Day 2

On Monday morning we woke up to rain - BOO!  Didn't stop these boys, though - they still played at the edge of the water and threw rocks in the lake.

The rain lightened up so we drove to the stables to check out the horses.

Then we went and did a little fishing - not much luck except for this one fish!
Luke and I went back to the cabin and packed some lunches, then met the boys at the mini-golf and park area.  By this time the rain had stopped and we were hoping the sun was going to start shining!  We ate lunch and they played golf and played on the playground a little bit.
Inside the big fish mouth on the mini golf course!

It started to get sunny and warm so we grabbed some ice cream and milkshakes and then headed to the pool!

Playing "monkey in the middle".

By this time it was like 3:00 and this boy was WIPED out.  Things were finally dried out enough that we could put the boat in the lake, so we loaded the boys in the car and they drove up to where the boat was parked.  By the time they met me down on the boat ramp, Luke was zonked!  I got him out of the car, held him while Brian put the boat in, docked it and parked the car, then we got in the boat and he didn't move a muscle for most of the ride!

Ahhhh.....blue skies, sunshine and water....a perfect afternoon!

We made chicken on the grill for dinner and then went to the firepit where they were having smores that night.  For some crazy reason, I am the only person in our family who actually likes smores, so I ate them and the boys only ate the graham crackers and chocolate!  They also had hula hoops, giant tic-tac-toe games and beanbag toss.  Luke was really into the beanbags!

The boys played a little more mini-golf and then it was time for the "Dive in Movie" at the pool!  Look at that sunset!
This was so neat - they had a big screen where they were showing "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and they brought out about 100 pool noodles and all the kids hung out in the pool and watched the movie!  I was surprised at how much Luke actually sat and watched it, too!
He thought this looked like a good seat...
Such a fun night!!!
