I can't even believe this boy is TEN years old!!! How is that possible...it seems like we just brought home that 6 lb 5 oz little peanut after he spent 13 days in the NICU!
Drew right now:
He loves sports. Playing them, watching them - doesn't matter!
Baseball was his favorite, but last night he told me that basketball is now. "There's more action.", he said.
He eats All. The. Time.
He is such a hard worker when it comes to the yard, shoveling snow, or any sort of manual labor.
He is the total opposite when he has to do something he doesn't like!
He will shovel our driveway and all 4 of our neighbors' by choice when it snows.
He has such a funny sense of humor - cracking us up with the silliest things.
He wants to wear shorts, tall socks, and basketball shoes every single day.
He likes to help me cook.
He is the sweetest with Luke. Jack goes back and forth between loving and hating having a little brother, but Drew is always very sweet to Lukey.
He knows tons of random facts about farming, trucks, and sports teams, but if you ask him how to spell a word....well...........
He is still a math whiz.
His favorite things about school are PE and recess. Big surprise there.
He is close to 5 feet tall and weighs 91 pounds! (And that was in September!) He is solid!
He loves to have his back scratched at night. He's totally my child in this element! He even asked for back scratch coupons for his birthday!
He still loves his trucks. He doesn't play with them as often, but when he does I don't even mind that they are lined up all over the house, because I know one day I will miss that!
Ok, on to the pictures!
He lucked out with his birthday falling on a Sunday this year, so we celebrated all weekend long! We started on Friday by bringing cookies for his class and eating lunch with him. Luke thinks he is BIG. STUFF. eating lunch with the 4th graders. That night Grandma and Grandpa came into town so we went out to dinner at Conrads.
Saturday started bright and early with Drew's 1st basketball tournament game at 8 am! They played their hearts out and while they didn't bring home a win, they did pretty darn good for their first game ever. They played again at 11:00, and then we grabbed some lunch before his friends came over!
He really just wanted to get together with some buddies and play basketball this year. So we took Jack, Sam, Drew and 4 of his buddies to the community center to play in the gym and swim in the pool. They had a blast! These boys never get tired of basketball! My pictures turned out terrible so I only have a few.
We came back home and had cookie cake and opened presents.
Shortly after his friends left, we had family over for more celebrating! We ate pizza and then opened gifts. He was pretty excited about his new coveralls from Grandma and Grandpa! His other pair had gotten too small.
What could be in here??
No way!
His very own (real) weedeater!!! He was over the moon!
He requested chocolate cake with chocolate icing, and basketballs on it. :) Chocolate ice cream too, of course.
So proud of this boy!
Sidenote: Jack has a black eye in all these pictures because he ran into a counter when he was running around with some friends at Drew's basketball game. :( OUCH!
He goes, "Mom! Come tuck me in!" This kid cracks me up.
The next morning, his actual birthday, he woke up to 5 balloons hanging from his doorway and 5 hanging from his ceiling. He wanted to go out for breakfast but had to open his gifts first! He had lots of help from Luke and was so sweet to let him. :)
Excited about his Fitbit!
We went to breakfast at First Watch and had waffles, bacon and sausage - YUM!
He couldn't wait to get home and weedeat the backyard!!! It was 7 degrees outside, but that didn't stop him!
We went to Dicks later that morning so he could spend his gift cards. Then we had basketball game #3 of the weekend!
After his game he chose to go to the College Basketball Experience downtown. We had never been and it was pretty cool!
More proof that I am terrible at selfies. At least he humors me.
He chose Mexican for dinner so we met Brad, Rachel and Parker at Margaritas and then ended the night at Dairy Queen!
I miss that little baby but it's so fun to watch him grow up. We love you so much, Doo Doo! (That's what Luke calls him.) :)
