Drew's Fishing Trip!

Drew was SO excited to go fishing at Roaring River with Papa over his spring break.  He talked about it nonstop beforehand and even set the alarm on his ipod so he could get up on time to be ready when Papa arrived at 7:15.  :)  They had a great time fishing, watching the fish at the fish hatchery, and hiking the trails!  Drew took some pictures of his trip to school and he said he told the class that his favorite part was the hiking.  :)  They caught 3 trout - 1 on the first day and 2 on the 2nd day.  I guess there is a whistle at 7 a.m. for people to start fishing and then you have to stop at 7 p.m.  Drew thought that was pretty neat.  Thanks so much, Papa - this was an awesome experience and Drew had a blast!!  Hopefully we can make it an annual tradition.

Check out those fish!

My little hiker!  I wonder if he ever waited for Papa?!

Their first catch!

Watching the fish at the fish hatchery.  They release more fish into the river each night.

More hiking!

Ok this has Mommy scared just a little!!!

Drew sat down and ate his candy bar anyway.  :)

Watching the guys at the fish hatchery again.

Looks like a comfy spot to me!

Caught 2 more!!!  Love that smile!

Here they are right after getting home...do you think Drew was a little tired?!?

A Beautiful Day for the Zoo!

The last day of my spring break was 80 degrees!  Seems crazy since have snow on the ground now, but it was an absolutely beautiful day so Jack and I headed to the zoo.  Turns out every single other person in the Kansas City area had the same idea so it was REALLY crowded, but we still had fun!  Jack was prepared to go exploring because he took his binoculars with him.  :)  Couldn't resist this picture of him looking over the bridge at the river.

Checking out the rhino!  We ate lunch by this big guy.

On the sky safari!

Checking out the giraffes and zebras with his binoculars!

On the train - we waited in line forever because he wanted to ride the train so bad - once we finally got on we only got to go a little way and then had to get off because the train in front of us had derailed!  Jack was not a happy camper!

The carousel cheered him up, though.  :)

I mean, really, could this kid get any cuter?!

Our last stop before we left was the polar bears!  So cool, Jack got right up close to the glass and I think he could have sat there for hours watching the polar bear swim right by him over and over.

Fun at Paradise Park

Over my spring break Drew was still in school, so Jack and I headed to Paradise Park with Susie and Sam one day.  The boys had a blast playing in the ball pit, building with blocks, and playing in the grocery store, bank and water area!  Here are some cute pics from our day...

Grocery shopping!

At the bank - putting all the gold blocks into the safe.  :)

Jack the banker on an important call.

Cub Scout Visit to the TV Station

One of the requirements for Drew to earn his Tiger Cub badge was to visit a TV or radio station to learn about communication.  My cousin Brooke's husband Chris (and our family photographer :) ) works at KCTV5 so he was nice enough to set up a tour for the boys!  I think the parents enjoyed it just as much as the boys.  It was so neat!  They got to tour the whole station and then watch the end of the news broadcast that was going on live.  We had to be super quiet for that!  The boys also got to play weatherman at the end - so cool!

KCTV5 has a live polar bear cam at the Kansas City Zoo - the boys got to watch the feed from the live video and see how Chris controlled the cameras at the zoo from his computer!  This was really neat - Drew even took the link to school and his whole class got to watch the polar bears at the zoo.

Sitting in the boardroom discussing the stories of the day!  :)

Watching some of the behind-the-scenes stuff.

Chatting with the meteorologist after the broadcast!

He showed them how the "green screen" works and the boys thought it was pretty cool to put on this green sweatshirt he had and watch how it made them invisible on the TV screen!

Drew's on TV!  (Not really but they had fun playing!)

Sitting behind the news desk!

Basketball Recap!

Well better late than never...Drew's basketball season was over a month ago, but I am just now getting around to posting the pictures for some reason!  I didn't get a lot of very good shots this season but one of the other mom's has a really nice camera and put together a slideshow of the whole season.  I pulled out the pictures of Drew and put them on here.  There are some really great action shots!  We celebrated the Sharks season with pizza and cookies and Coach Daddy handed out the trophies to the boys.  It was a fun season and so neat to see how much the team improved from start to finish!  Go Sharks!!!

These boys loved getting told to do push-ups!

Something must have been funny between the coaches...  :)
